Rotorua is a geothermal wonderland, situated in the heart of the North Island, and one of New Zealand’s most popular tourist destinations. With an area of intense volcanic activity, it has rightly earned it’s alternative name of “The Sulphur City” with impressive examples of bubbling mud pools, exploding geysers and evidence of geothermal activity practically everywhere you look. With so many different sights and activities on offer, Rotorua is exciting place to be all year round. But Rotorua is not only known for what lies below. Rotorua has some of the richest Maori culture in New Zealand and a great place to experience a Maori concert is in a Marae (meeting house) and to partake of a traditional Hangi Banquet. So come and explore this diverse and unique region, and discover why people have been drawn here for more than 150 years.
